Kristina Welsh, DVM, is an emergency veterinarian at Veterinary Medical And Surgical Group–OC (VMSG-OC) in Orange County.
Dr Welsh is originally from southern Oregon, where she grew up on a small beef ranch. Her passion for animals was evident at a small age, and she spent most of her life riding and showing horses. She is a graduate of Oregon State University School of Veterinary Medicine, and spent her first years working at a large rural mixed animal hospital with emergency services, in her hometown on the Oregon coast.
Through the years, Dr Welsh has continued to explore her passion for emergency medicine, where she has further developed her love of surgery and critical care cases. Dr. Welsh's practice emphasizes trauma, critical care, and non-elective surgeries, including but not limited to: GDV corrective surgeries, splenectomies, GI foreign body removal, limb amputation and trauma corrective surgeries. Her interests also include regenerative medicine, advanced imaging with our CT, as well as mentoring staff and new doctors.
Dr. Welsh is a member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, American Veterinary Medical Association, and Southern California Medical Association, and holds licenses in California, Oregon, Nevada, and Hawaii. She and her chocolate Labrador Koa, enjoy hiking, surfing (Koa is better) and stand up paddle boarding.
